I just found out I have a collection on my credit report for $69. I have no idea what it is or anything. I have to wait til tomorrow and call them before noon. What would happen if I paid that? Will it lower my credit score or will it go up a little?

My credit report shows that I have 17 accounts (11 open, 6 closed) and rates me as “D” (below average) in the TOTAL NO. OF CREDIT ACCOUNTS category. So does it mean I should I increase my number of accounts or decrease accounts to maintain better score?

what are some ways to make your credit score to go up?
I have mostly hospital bills on my report, I do have some other things on there too just five.
also when they get paid off how long does it take for the company to remove it off your credit report?
is there something out there that can consolidate your credit report, pay it off and you pay them monthly?
All this credit stuff is confusing%%%%%
