Credit agencies charge banks and mortgage companies a fee to request your credit report. However, make sure that you do not have it pulled too many times in a short period of time! Not only is it going to cost you money each time it is requested, each time it is requested it will show an inquiry which will show other mortgage lenders you are “shopping” your loan which may discourage some of them.
Don’t forget that most people are entitled to a free copy of their credit report on time per year at no cost. Don’t fall for the television commercials etc. that charge you a ‘monitoring” fee or whatever to get your report free. AnnualCreditReport.com is the official site to help consumers to obtain their free credit report.
